10-Minute Daily Floor Workout Linked to Better Balance and Agility

Poor balance can make simple tasks difficult and increase the risk of falls, joint disorders, and reduced stability. Maintaining balance requires coordination between the trunk and lower limbs, along with proper alignment of the body’s center of gravity. Disruption of this coordination may contribute to inefficient movement and low back pain.

Low-intensity exercises performed in a supine position may help improve movement coordination while reducing postural demands and physical strain. Researchers suggest these exercises may promote neuromuscular adaptations that improve how the nervous system coordinates body segments and distributes weight during movement.

A recent study published in PLOS ONE suggests that a 10-minute daily exercise program performed while lying down (supine) may significantly improve balance, agility, and trunk flexibility. These findings highlight a simple, low-risk home-based routine as a potentially sustainable approach to enhancing postural control and movement coordination.
